The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food & Environment department of Forestry & Natural Resources seeks a Program Coordinator to help achieve the mission of Green Forests Work (GFW).
The Program Coordinator is a key member of the GFW team which creates a renewable and sustainable multi-use resource in order to enhance the local and global environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following areas:
1) Program Development and Implementation – Establishing and overseeing reforestation projects with the Green Forests Work (“GFW”) program; ensuring an availability of planting sites for GFW operations; developing and maintaining relationships with contractors to perform key GFW services; and matching funding opportunities, planting sites, and contractors to ensure that GFW efforts are effectively implemented across the eight states of Appalachia.
2) Fundraising – Creating and implementing a comprehensive development plan; creating and ensuring maintenance of the necessary infrastructure to track, solicit and acknowledge contributors; and utilizing board members and other volunteers to actively assist in all fund development activities and cultivate positive relationships with key stakeholders and funders.
3) Business Administration – Assisting Director of Operations in business activities and record-keeping; ensuring that reporting and fundraising initiatives are consistent with board policy and comply with Federal and state laws, and policies of the University of Kentucky; overseeing and assuring contracts, service agreements and major purchases are procured and monitored in accordance with Internal Controls and Board policy; and developing an open bidding system.
4) Community Relations – Serving as chief public affairs officer for GFW; creating and implementing an organizational public relations and marketing plan; managing all technical and informational outreach efforts such as media contracts/releases and social networking outlets; producing (or overseeing the production of) reports, documents and publications ranging from quarterly/annual reports to brochures and other written materials; representing GFW as an “official spokesperson” in public appearances, professional meetings, speeches and presentations; and working with existing partners and establishing new partnerships with corporations, philanthropic organizations, energy companies, state forestry and wildlife agencies, federal partners, local government officials and watershed/community groups, landowners, etc.
